Arrange Home Check visits
Owner-operated Home Check
DBC provides scheduled Home Check visits for seasonal residents and snowbirds. This service is also commonly called snowbird home watch: someone visits, observes the agreed areas and reports back, rather than staying in the home.
A longer trip needs clear instructions. We agree on the visit schedule, keys or entry codes, household routines and the people to contact if a visible concern needs attention. Each visit follows the property checklist and ends with a written report.
Visits can include accessible interior and exterior areas, visible signs of leaks or water damage, mail and newspaper collection, and agreed plant watering. If an authorized contractor needs entry, access can be arranged within the agreed scope and schedule.
A written plan for the property
Share your expected dates and let us know when plans change. Tell us how to reach you in your destination’s time zone and name an alternate local contact.
Review keys, entry codes, parking, strata instructions and any areas excluded from the visit. Test access together before the first scheduled check.
Record your insurer’s or broker’s instructions and any settings supplied by your qualified contractor. DBC follows agreed observations and routines within the Home Check scope.
Agree on report recipients, relevant photographs, mail placement and plant care. Tell us about planned deliveries or contractor appointments so they are expected.
DBC is not a security company and does not provide guarding, patrols, surveillance, alarm response, or emergency response. Home Check covers scheduled visual observations of readily accessible areas; it is not a technical building inspection or a guarantee against loss.
Plan the absence
There is no single home-check schedule that applies to every snowbird. Before booking, describe your trip to your insurer or broker and ask for the visit interval, seasonal conditions and records required by your policy. DBC will confirm whether the requested schedule is available. Regular visits do not, on their own, guarantee insurance coverage.Home-check frequency and departure guide
